The focus with kids has to be making it fun for them, convenient for you as the parent and involving them as much as possible in the shopping and preparing of meals.

Remember, the families that eat together bring up the healthiest children.

TIPS on how to get kids to eat more fruit and vegetables and eat a healthy diet.

Eat breakfast - we need to fuel our childrens body for the rest of the day. Breakfast is the most important meal for kids.

Make it easy for them. Have fruit and vegetables cut up and ready to eat sitting on the table for them to pick at whenever they want.

Use fruit for a sweet snack and dessert. Substitute fruit and nutrient rich sugars in recipes to sweeten.

Serve salads or cut up veggies first at dinnertime, when kids are the hungriest.

Try new fruits and vegetables - don't assume your kids won't like them. Keep offering them -their tastes change.

Let them help in the grocery shopping, preparing meals and setting the table.

Give them CHOICES in their lunch box and at the table.

Change your attitude - don't push them to eat or threaten them with consequences.  Be firm and make rules you can all stick to.

Educate them. Kids love learning. Empower them to make healthier decisions.

Treats are ok but they are treats not meals
